Making Money Online - The Real Truth - Free Stuff
This is what you call putting a knife through your own heart, but if I'm going to tell the truth about making money online, then I'm ultimately going to reveal some not so nice things about myself as well. Yes, I play some of the games as well. I have to in order to make a profit. So in this installment of our real truth series, I'm going to reveal the skinny on free stuff and how it's really not so free when you take a look at the motivation and what's inside. This one is going to be a real eye opener.
Okay, I just said free stuff isn't so free. You're scratching your head probably wondering if I've been smoking something. After all, it is free right? You didn't pay for it, right? So how did it cost you anything? Well, it may have not cost you anything in dollars and cents right away, but make no mistake about it, the freebie that you got has a method behind the madness and all isn't as it seems.
For starters, most freebies require you to opt into a list in order to get them, right? Well, believe it or not, that's a form of a payment...you handing over your email address and access to you any time the list owner wants. He can email you as much as he likes until you either unsubscribe or he keels over from heart failure. You're his for eternity. Now, if he's providing you with good content that helps you with your business, then you might not mind so much. That's something I always try to do. But not everybody is so giving. Some just give you one sales pitch after another. It's the list from hell.
Another thing that makes these freebies not so free is the fact that if you actually look inside these reports, you'll see that they are either stuffed with affiliate links or links to their own products. That's right...ways for these horrible list owners to make money off of you. Well, of course some of these products may actually be very good and help you with your business. I've purchased quite a few items from these free reports myself that have greatly contributed to my six figure a year income, but the point is...the freebie isn't so free if it's making you spend money, right?
Okay, maybe the above isn't the end of the world, but I just wanted you to be aware that when people give you things for free, just as I do, there is always a reason behind it that leads to dollars and cents. That's why it's called business. And there's nothing wrong with running a business if you do it honestly and provide products and services to others that have REAL value.

Now I bet you're really starting see what this is an easy internet business.
What you want to do is write at least three good articles on each of your chosen products. Make sure to stuff your articles with helpful and useful content.

How Credible Are You?
As an internet marketer, how do you prove you are credible enough so people are prepared to pay you for your products and services?
If you're just starting out you have little background for your prospects to work with, and it's likely they will go and find a product from someone they feel is more trustworthy.
I suppose if you put yourself in their shoes, would you hand over your hard-earned cash to someone you didn't know? For all you know, they could run off with your money, giving you nothing or something inferior in return.
So how do we overcome the "lack of credibility" obstacle?
Firstly, you must have a website with plenty of relevant, useful content. Your website visitors should be able to leave your site knowing they have read something of value. Remember, they are searching the internet for information. You must give them that (or some of that) information.
Also, you should offer them a free ebook or report in return for their name and email address (opt in form). This is the first step towards building your list - your most valuable asset! Once you have them on your mailing list, you can send them emails (preferably using an autoresponder), offering them useful information, with the occasional product offer (sales pitch).
One important thing to remember here is that you don't give them the sales pitch in every single email - very soon they will unsubscribe then you've lost them forever.
Sending them information every few days or every week will allow you to build a "relationship" with your prospect. If you've done the right kind of research, you will know what they want to know (hence the reason they subscribed in the first place) and you will talk about how that might make them feel or how you have experienced the same thing. Build rapport with them. Show them how they can't live without your product - hone in on their pain.
Use "borrowed credibility" and talk about how successful your mentor is (if you've been taught by the best, then you must be pretty good, right?).
Offer freebies to friends and get them to review your product and write you testimonials. Put those testimonials on your website for the world to read. If possible, include a photo of the person giving you a testimonial, their name and where they are from. Testimonials are a very powerful way to gain credibility.
Building an online business is a huge task, and there is a lot to do, but with enough effort and commitment, you can soon be on your way to living the dream!

Why Your Website Doesn't Work - Internet Marketing -Increase Your Website Results 10 Times or More
How many calls, or leads, or sales, do you get from your website every week?
When I ask that question in my seminars the answer is almost always ZERO.
Here is why?
Your website is a part of your Internet Marketing, a PART of it. Therefore, to make this work we MUST be in control of all of the parts of the end-to-end marketing. You can have one part working well, and have the next step fall flat. The result is still zero.
Some of you may have already paid someone to fix one of these parts and saw little or no improvement . . . because one of the other parts wasn't working. I've seen people pay for Search Engine Optimization, get a search engine position, and still get no traffic, or no sales . . . because there was another piece still not working. So, stick with me as we design the internet marketing system.
Let's look at the parts of Internet Marketing
The first is Traffic - what you are doing to get that traffic to your website. Without that traffic, no matter how good the website, the overall results are still zero. It will be stopped dead before they ever get to your website.
The second is the website conversion - once the traffic gets to your website, if the website isn't converting a large percentage of that traffic, again, the results will be low or zero.
And, finally, we've got to run our Internet Marketing as an active part of our marketing as opposed to passive marketing. Passive marketing is when we sort of cast our net out and wait to see what gets caught in the net. Active marketing is when we are in control, we design the results we want, manage those results making sure that we get the results in each and every step of the internet marketing. So, we would design the exact amount of traffic we want, what percentage of that we get, and what the conversion rate of our website should be. We'll design it, then manage it to deliver. The results will be exactly what we designed instead of just waiting and waiting and waiting . . . which is how most people do it . . . and why most people are still waiting . . they aren't actively managing for the results.
Let's Look at Traffic.
We want the most people that we can get. Many people tell me they are sending prospects to their websites personally so they aren't trying to get on the search engines and, in fact they think that is hard. It isn't. However, that's like handing out your business card, or a printed brochure. The typical amount of activity is to hand out your business card to 5 people a week. The number of people looking for you on the internet is going to be hundreds to several thousand and you are missing out. If all you are doing is handing out your internet business card to 5 people a week, you are wasting your website potential.
Let's say, for now, that your website converts 5% of those that land there.
- Search engines -- If there are 1,000 people looking for you and you could capture 5%, that would be 50 a week.
- Handing out business card -- If you are handing out your business card to 5 people a week, 5x.05=0.25 people a week, or it would take 4 weeks to get just one call.
There are lots of ways of getting traffic. Some are: having a search engine position (page 1 on major search engine), banner ads, links from other sites and directories, article marketing, etc.
For now, let's look at what we have to do to get that search engine position. The first question you should answer is: what search words are people looking for that should bring them to you? Notice that I said what people are looking for, not what you think they should be looking for. Big difference. Find what people are looking for and help them find their way to you.
In any case, getting a search engine position requires the following:
- Building a web page around that search word. Putting that search word in your title, meta tags, first line of your website, and about 2-3% word density throughout the website.
- Having enough links from other websites using that search word.
What search engine do you want? Google. Google gets 60% of all search engine traffic, Yahoo 30%, and MSN less than 10%. Go for Google and you'll be happy. Chances are you'll get a position on the others as well, but focus on Google first.
Now, let's talk about conversion rates on the search engines. Let's say that you have ended up on page 1. I don't know how many web developers have told me that meta tags are not important, and therefore, I find websites without any meta tags. MISTAKE! Big one. Here's why. Search engines pull your search engine listing from either the Title and Meta Description in your website, or they pull from different places on your website (not really in your control). Keep in mind that what you say in that listing and the position, determines what percentage of those searching actually click through to your site. So, we want a good position, and we also want to convert the most we can from that position.
Here's my rule of thumb:
- If you are at the bottom of page 1, position 10, and IF you have a compelling message in your meta description, you should be able to get between 1% and 5% of all people searching to click to your site.
- If you are at the top of page 1, position 1, and IF you have a compelling message in your meta description, you should be able to get between 5% and 50% of all searches to click through to your site.
I'll follow this article up with a way of developing that most compelling message for your internet marketing and other forms of marketing.
In any case, do you see how important it is to manage this?
For traffic
- Need to get a search engine position for the RIGHT keyword
- Keep managing that position for higher and higher positions
- Adjust what you say in the meta description to get higher and higher conversion rates.
Website Conversion
So, once they get to your website, what you say, how you say it, and who you say it to, has an impact on the conversion of traffic into leads, calls, signups, or sales (whatever you have designed this website for).
Most websites don't convert at all, 99% of all websites DON'T work, zero results. Yet, if done correctly, anywhere from 5% to 40% is a potential conversion, depending on what you are selling and how you lead the buyer through the thought process.
The process and structure of leading the buyer through the website is almost a book in itself. We'll be discussing this in future articles.
Let's just lay this out as a potential for now.
- Assume 1,000 people looking for you on the internet monthly (go to http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/ , type in a keyword and learn how many are searching for various keywords).
- We should be able to get between 1% and 50% of those to our website, 10 to 500 people.
- And, if the website is delivering 5% conversion, then we should have a possible 25 people calling us, or signing up, etc.
Internet marketing is not just your website, it is an end-to-end system that you can design the results for and make happen the way you want . . . if you decide to.

Internet Marketing As A Home Business
In this highly competitive market, a new system popularly being followed by many companies in marketing their products is the Internet marketing or affiliate marketing. Internet marketing is web-based marketing wherein one business, often called the merchant, pays one or more affiliates for each customer they get from the affiliates marketing efforts. Pay per sale, pay per lead, and pay per click are the three commonly used methods for earning money.
Pay per sale: In this case the affiliates earn a commission when a sale is completed by the company. Generally this offers the largest amount of commission and is more popular with the affiliates.

Working of the home based affiliate programs
Internet marketing is gaining popularity for the last few years as it is possible for anyone to start a home based business using the low cost training guides available. The affiliate is given a unique tracking ID or an individual URL that can be used to advertise the products and services of the merchant. This tracking Id is also used by the merchant to track the affiliates' performance and the commission. These merchants will have links on their sites where the affiliates can sign up for the affiliates program. The program is conducted by the merchant directly and also pays the affiliates himself.
Another popular method is affiliate marketing network. This is favored by the merchants and affiliates alike. The program is conducted by the marketing network. The affiliate marketing network takes the payment for the vendor, pays the affiliates and forwards the balance amount to the merchant after deducting the network fees. This network is favored by the affiliates as they can work with different vendors and receive lump sum payment from the network.

Don't ever feel badly for asking for you money back if the product or service you bought is no good. Perhaps if the seller of the product or service gets enough requests then they'll start making better products.

The Tree Of Wealth That Grows With Basic Adverting And Marketing
When discussing the top techniques for advertising one must not be biased. What might work for one advertiser in his/her marketing campaign will not work so well for the next on line marketer. The basics remain the base roots to every growing campaign. Traffic drive and your desire to grow and branch out into new markets or niches. As the consumer require different niches the advertisers will fill theses needs. So what is the branch or niche you choose to market is entirely up to you. A niche is described as - a suitable place or activity for some body. There are four major ways to market your 'tree of wealth' to others. Pay Per Click - PPC, Search Engine Optimization - SEO, Article Marketing, and the ever so famous Classifieds.
Starting off with classifieds since we all have seen an ad in the local paper. When marketing today we use the hyper text highway of the Internet to write and post our ads to the consumer. . Article Marketing Is the second to this ever so important wealth tree. When done properly this will make sure the longevity of your company will withstand the test of time. Remember when someone has never read your article it is new to the reader. And you will develop a bond between your reader and yourself. Building on the root system for future sells.
Pay Per Click can be a lot of trial and error at first but a great way to market if you have a little extra money to spend. Keep in mind you are paying every time some wants to view your product or service. so if your product cost twenty dollars and it cost you ten dollars to sell it, mind you of your five dollar product cost. You made five whole dollars. Still a prof fit in my eyes though. Just multiply and repeat for your success. Three strong for your wealth tree.
Search Engine Optimization or SEO for short. Saved the best for last. SEO only helps your site when you can grab the first ten or spot in the search engine. This will likely come from the other forms of marketing you ave already done. Don't quote me on this, but a Wealth tree that grows slow and steady is more secure and would not be blown over in a storm.
Four tree growing techniques for you to use on your own endeavors. Just water and feed your own tree and eventually it will grow.

Why I Think People Don't Succeed In Established Programs
I could make this a VERY short article and boil it down to four words: Lack of 'COMMON SENSE'!!!!
I was in the Telemarketing Industry for over 25 years and have successfully marketed everything from ball point pens(my first) and hair growth products to investments and advertising.
It doesn't matter what the product is. You have to sell YOURSELF before you ever get to talk about your product or program.
On the telephone it means that you have to come across as being dressed in a 3 piece suit, sitting in your corner office, looking at the boats cruising by. It doesn't matter if you're sitting in the corner of your living room, it's how the customer perceives it. The first "room" I worked in had mirrors in front of everyone because if you smiled at the mirror it came across in your voice. People, even subconsciously, pick up on your moods on the phone. They pick up on every little thing even if they don't realize it. If you REALLY believe in you product or your program they will hear it in your voice. If you DON'T believe in what you're doing, find another line of work. Learn the phrase "Do you want fries with your order?".
I'm finding on the Internet it's a little different but basically the same.
You still HAVE to believe in yourself AND your program or product! You HAVE to come across as professional!!!
That starts with your E-mail & website address. Would you send money to the address: igetdrunkeverynight.com. Unless it's a liquor store, I don't think so. Set up a free gmail account or whatever.
Be prepared to WORK!! True, you may only have to work 3-4 hours a day to make a living. The Top Earners will tell you though, to start out and build a pipeline of potential clients, it takes a LOT of hard work and time to get to that level. If you're not prepared to invest your time, I don't care how much money you throw at it, it WON"T work for you!!
When you place ads, make them exciting, BUT believable!!! Place them in as many venues as you can. My company has training sessions 7 days-a-week on how to do that. Keep the ads simple! 3-4 lines TOPS.
The most IMPORTANT thing to remember: LISTEN to the people who HAVE succeeded! They have already made the mistakes you're about to make. If you think you know more than they do, you WILL fail.

What Web 2.0 Really Is!
Web 2.0 is considered the new generation of websites. It stands for websites that are interactive with its members, allows its members to dynamically change the sites, add content to them, and interact with other members of the site like never before.
This is a huge shift in mentality. In Web 1.0 my website was only mine and nobody dare to touch it! In Web 2.0 my website is like a huge forum where people are active, add content and really interact with each other.
We can divide The Web 2.0 sites in these categories:
- Social Bookmarking
- Social Networking
- Video sites
- Pod Casting
Some people add Blogs as a distinctive category of Web 2.0 sites because of the openness and conversational nature of Blogs.
1) Social Bookmarking includes sites in which people store, classify and share links.
Examples: del.icio.no, Digg, Furl, Yahoo's My Web 2.0, Flicker, Simply, Technorati, Blinkflip, Blinklist, Squidoo, Stumple Upon, Mywebtop, Bloglines, Fark.

Sometime Social Bookmarking and Social Networking are consider one single classification, I think the separation I made, the definitions and the examples I provide will show a clear cut, and implement the idea that they must be treated separately.

As soon as you are granted access to a social networking website you can begin to socialize with the people in the group. All of those are part of the big umbrella of Podcasting even though they a specialized.
We got so far that we have now podcast directories: podcastdirectory, digitalpodcast, podcast, yahoo.com and so on.
All those directory have a lot of podcasts to choose from.
As you can see, the Web 2.0 is already established and this is the direction in which I think the development will go.
